Our flat back earrings are constructed to be worn for the long haul; however, just like all plated jewelry pieces, the plating may eventually fade with time. Nevertheless, beneath lies a layer of titanium that is designed for safe implantation purposes – so it won't produce any skin irritations!

Pro Tip: Always make sure your jewelry is made from materials that won't cause irritation!

Treat your ears and earrings with care by cleaning them regularly, preferably once a week. This will help keep the buildup away while also preventing potential infections. To clean titanium earrings, simply soak them in warm soapy water for a few minutes before wiping off any residue with a soft cloth. Then rinse it thoroughly with cold water and dry it promptly using an absorbent towel since air drying may cause spots to form on metal surfaces such as this one!

I have senstive ears - are flat backs for me?

Yes! But with a major caveat. You're absolutely going to need to make sure you buy your flat backs from a reputable source that has the right materials and stands by their work. Buy from a company whose jewelry is made from medical-grade titanium. Here, our flat back earrings are hypoallergenic and perfect for those with sensitivities. If you start to experience any allergic reactions however, it is possible that you have a sensitivity to the material despite its generally nonreactive nature. Therefore, we recommend giving your ears time off by removing the earring and cleaning it before attempting another insertion after taking a rest period - if this doesn't help then there's likely an allergy at play!

If you’re seeing a delayed reaction, it’s more likely that your ear is reacting to something on the surface of the earring. Regular cleaning is important to keep the inevitable buildup from forming – which can irritate your skin and cause a reaction. Generally we recommend taking your earrings out and cleaning them once a week (this is true for solid 14k gold as well!) – but if you have super sensitive skin, you may want to clean your earrings even more often.
